Harriet Beecher Stowe

Harriet Beecher Stowe (lahir dengan nama Harriet Elizabeth Beecher di Litchfield, Connecticut, 14 Juni 1811 – meninggal di Hartford, Connecticut, 1 Juli 1896 pada umur 85 tahun) ialah seorang pengarang Amerika Serikat.

Ia berasal dari keluarga Puritan, ayahnya adalah seorang teolog dan pendeta bernama Lyman Beecher. Suaminya Calvin Ellis Stowe adalah seorang pendeta. Saudaranya Henry Ward Beecher adalah seorang pendeta.

Karya pertama yang ditulisnya Pondok Paman Tom adalah karya terbesar yang ditulisnya, terjual sebanyak jutaan kopi. Diterbitkan mulai pada tahun 1851, buku ini menyerang atas kebiasaan perbudakan di AS bagian selatan, yang kelak akan menyulut Perang Saudara Amerika. Awalnya muncul sebagai cerita bersambung 40 minggu di penerbitan berkala milik kelompok abolisionis, “National Era”, mulai tanggal 5 Juni 1851.
