Suatu hari ada seorang anak muda yang tengah menanjak karirnya tapi merasa hidupnya tidak bahagia.

Istrinya sering mengomel karena merasa keluarga tidak lagi mendapat waktu dan perhatian yang cukup dari si suami.

Orang tua dan keluarga besar, bahkan menganggapnya sombong dan tidak lagi peduli kepada keluarga besar.

Tuntutan pekerjaan membuatnya kehilangan waktu untuk keluarga, teman-teman lama, bahkan saat merenung bagi dirinya sendiri. 

Hingga suatu hari, karena ada masalah, si pemuda harus mendatangi salah seorang petinggi perusahaan di rumahnya.

Setibanya di sana, dia sempat terpukau saat melewati taman yang tertata rapi dan begitu indah. 

“Hai anak muda. Tunggulah di dalam. Masih ada beberapa hal yang harus Bapak selesaikan,” seru tuan rumah.

Bukannya masuk, si pemuda menghampiri dan bertanya, “Maaf, Pak. Bagaimana Bapak bisa merawat taman yang begitu indah sambil tetap bekerja dan bisa membuat keputusan-keputusan hebat di perusahaan kita?” 

Tanpa mengalihkan perhatian dari pekerjaan yang sedang dikerjakan, si bapak menjawab ramah, “Anak muda, mau lihat keindahan yang lain? Kamu boleh kelilingi rumah ini. Tetapi, sambil berkeliling, bawalah mangkok susu ini. Jangan tumpah ya. Setelah itu kembalilah kemari”. 

Dengan sedikit heran, namun senang hati, diikutinya perintah itu. Tak lama kemudian, dia kembali dengan lega karena mangkok susu tidak tumpah sedikit pun. Si bapak bertanya, “Anak muda. Kamu sudah lihat koleksi batu-batuanku? Atau bertemu dengan burung kesayanganku?” 

Sambil tersipu malu, si pemuda menjawab, “Maaf Pak, saya belum melihat apa pun karena konsentrasi saya pada mangkok susu ini. Baiklah, saya akan pergi melihatnya.” 

Saat kembali lagi dari mengelilingi rumah, dengan nada gembira dan kagum dia berkata, “Rumah Bapak sungguh indah sekali, asri, dan nyaman.” tanpa diminta, dia menceritakan apa saja yang telah dilihatnya.

Si Bapak mendengar sambil tersenyum puas sambil mata tuanya melirik susu di dalam mangkok yang hampir habis.

Menyadari lirikan si bapak ke arah mangkoknya, si pemuda berkata, “Maaf Pak, keasyikan menikmati indahnya rumah Bapak, susunya tumpah semua”. 

“Hahaha! Anak muda. Apa yang kita pelajari hari ini? Jika susu di mangkok itu utuh, maka rumahku yang indah tidak tampak olehmu. Jika rumahku terlihat indah di matamu, maka susunya tumpah semua. Sama seperti itulah kehidupan, harus seimbang. Seimbang menjaga agar susu tidak tumpah sekaligus rumah ini juga indah di matamu. Seimbang membagi waktu untuk pekerjaan dan keluarga. Semua kembali ke kita, bagaimana membagi dan memanfaatkannya. Jika kita mampu menyeimbangkan dengan bijak, maka pasti kehidupan kita akan harmonis”.

Seketika itu si pemuda tersenyum gembira, “Terima kasih, Pak. Tidak diduga saya telah menemukan jawaban kegelisahan saya selama ini. Sekarang saya tahu, kenapa orang-orang menjuluki Bapak sebagai orang yang bijak dan baik hati”. 

Untuk bisa membuat kehidupan menjadi seimbang, memang tidak mudah.
Kita membutuhkan proses pematangan pikiran dan mental.

Butuh pengorbanan, perjuangan, dan pembelajaran terus menerus. Dan yang pasti, untuk menjaga supaya tetap bisa hidup seimbang dan harmonis, ini bukan urusan 1 atau 2 bulan, bukan masalah 5 tahun atau 10 tahun, tetapi kita butuh selama hidup. 

Kehidupan yang seimbang akan mendatangkan keharmonisan dan kebahagiaan.
